Katherine Lamond, M.D., M.S., FACS, medical director and assistant professor of surgery at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine
Dr. Lamond specializes in laparoscopic bariatric surgery, performing adjustable gastric banding, gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy. Harpreet Gujral, M.S.N., R.N., FNP-BC, program director
Harpreet is a nurse practitioner with over 17 years of experience in obesity weight management. Her interests include health coaching and integrating mind-body and holistic approaches to help others achieve a better sense of wellbeing.
Shannon Hurst, bariatric scheduling coordinator
Shannon coordinates the surgical calendar for the practice, facilitates the multidisciplinary work-ups and handles patient correspondence. She provides financial and insurance counseling and assists in the scheduling of appointments and procedures.
Jodie Hofacre, R.D., L.D., outpatient dietitian
Jodie evaluates each individual’s dietary habits and nutritional needs. She offers nutrition education to help each patient develop healthy eating habits and understand post-weight loss surgery dietary restrictions for long term success.
Bulsby (Buzz) Duncan, personal trainer
Buzz works closely with patients through their entire weight loss experience, offering a personalized approach to physical activity based on the individual’s preferences, habits and restrictions throughout the continuum of surgery. He provides support and motivation as he assists patients to increase physical movement.
Richard L. Ogden, Ph.D., clinical psychologist
Dr. Ogden is on the medical staff at Sibley where he works on the inpatient unit, as well as at the Center. He specializes in bariatric surgery evaluation and treatment of patients with weight-related and anxiety disorders. He is an assistant clinical professor of clinical psychology at George Washington University.
Sharon C. Cooper, Ph.D., psychologist, personal and professional coach
Dr. Cooper’s clinical interests include bariatric surgery evaluation and treatment, weight management, self-esteem, anxiety and depressive disorders and addictive behavior. She helps couples negotiate and reconcile the changes that occur with physical modifications.
